Thin Air - Ronny Simon

A pale figure in a high ruffled collar looks straight out of the picture with dark red lips, and above the face an enormous red balloon swells where the top of the head should be. The ground is a deep brown-black, and the light falls across the balloon in a broad white highlight.

Painted in oil, the balloon worked in smooth graded red against a dark, almost flat ground. Ronny Simon, born in Surabaya in 1955, is a self-taught Dutch artist who works intuitively and keeps re-examining his own visual language. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
