Cotton - Marina Agre

Three cotton bolls open on a single dark stem, two held high and one hanging below, their fibres painted in warm grey and soft beige. The background is a pale wash of blue-grey and cream, flecked with small white spots, and nothing else competes with the plant.

Painted in watercolour on a damp ground so the washes run into one another, with the stem left as the only hard line in the picture. Marina Agre is a contemporary artist based in Poland who has painted landscapes, abstracts and still lifes since 1993. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
